Michael S. Shen is an artist and primary care doctor. He works visually in watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, and digital media. Clinically, he works in New York City’s public hospital system, where he strives to find the intersection of medicine and humanities and is interested in creating innovative care models for healthcare systems transformation. He has been awarded the Rudin Fellowship for Medical Humanities by NYU School of Medicine. His illustrative work has been published by National Geographic Books, the American Medical Association’s Journal of Ethics, and the Annals of Internal Medicine.
